Approximately twenty-five thousand homes in southeastern Queensland woke up experiencing outages on Monday morning after intense storm systems impacted the region, generating strong winds reaching over 100 km/h.

Massive Ice Stones and Extensive Impact

Residents reported substantial frozen pellets measuring up to seven centimeters in some areas. Meteorological experts announced that various areas across Queensland had been hit with significant hail.

Emergency crews were focused on reestablishing energy supply throughout the damaged zones, with approximately seventy teams deployed to handle the numerous electricity disruptions.

Victorian Weather Woes

Meanwhile, around one thousand residents in Victoria also encountered electricity disruptions after the metropolitan area experienced its wettest day in a year and a half.

State Emergency Services handled nearly 600 requests for assistance across the region, mainly for structural issues but also for collapsed vegetation and inundation.

• Hoppers Crossing area - numerous assistance requests
• Wyndham area - over 175 emergency requests

At one point on yesterday, over 28k electricity consumers in the state were experiencing outages.

Meteorological Predictions

Moist weather were forecast to persist along much of Queensland's east this week as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.

Tuesday was expected to become the wettest day, with persistent storm activity expected across different parts of both regions.

Health officials cautioned that there was an greater possibility of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, specifically given the current weather patterns.
